Jeff Hafler teaches our Yoga class. He has practiced many forms of yoga over the last 2 decades and in 2010 was certified in the art of Ashtanga. He received his certification through CalYoga with Byron Miller at the Joshua Tree retreat center/Institute of mental physics. Working in an industry that was physically demanding made him realize, at an early age, the importance of staying flexilbe. Becoming certified made him realize the importance of the breath.  His class is a fusion of the many styles of yoga he has practiced, and is a sequence of basic postures with attention focused on connecting the movement to the breath. Conscious breathing is used and the class is followed by a mind positive and healing meditation. All levels are invited to attend.

“I believe yoga is the fountain of youth, a place of refuge and a soothing balm for the stresses of modern life” JH

Susan Jordan teaches our Tai Chi class.  She has studied for 25 years and has 13 years of teaching experience in Big Bear, Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree. The focus of the class is personal health. Format includes warm ups, standing postures, and yang style 24 movement short form. Internal structural alignment to open the meridians and improve energy flow is where the class begins. Tai Chi is a martial art for mind, body and spirit and will improve your  health, balance, flexibility and mental clarity. The class is structured to accommodate people of almost any shape, size or age. Novice, beginner and advanced students are welcome.

“My purpose is to teach the art of Tai Chi Chuan for the benefit of the community & the health of the individual” SJ

Janice Pask teaches our Explorations in Meditation class. She first received formal training in meditation over 30 years ago and has a Master’s degree in History and Phenomenology of Religion. Have you been curious about meditation but don’t know how to get started?  Are you looking for ways to relieve your stress, or find a greater sense of peace and wholeness?? Then join us for the Explorations in Meditation class! This class is open to everyone: those who are feeling overwhelmed (stressed out) by the circumstances in their lives; and those who are seeking support for their own spiritual journey. Over time we will explore various styles of meditation, but initially we will build a solid foundation doing mindfulness meditation practices.  Mindfulness can help us respond wisely and compassionately to what is happening within and around us, rather than blindly reacting.  In addition to sitting meditation, we will do mindful walking and movement practices, taking time to appreciate and enjoy the beautiful spaciousness of the desert.

“ The journey calls upon us to nurture an openness of heart and clarity of mind” JP
